BEAR CREEK CAMP

CABIN TWO at BEAR CREEK CAMP is a self-contained family cabin vacation rental offered on a weekly or monthly basis.  Completely renovated for 2021, it sleeps six with private bathroom, kitchen/dining, covered deck, picnic table, and campfire ring with bundle of firewood.

The rest of BEAR CREEK CAMP is seasonal dry cabin rentals, 1.7 miles from downtown Haines, Alaska, offering a unique living situation for summer residents in the outdoor guiding industry.  Formerly an International Youth Hostel, the camp has been around for decades and is a bit funky.  New owner, Donna Catotti, a professional artist and Haines resident for over 30 years, says her hope is to create an intentional community of like-minded individuals who care about the earth, recycling, and healthy living.  Our motto, ” Live Well – Laugh Often – Love Much” (read the back story…).

EACH OF SIX GUIDE CABINS is private, suitable for one, maybe two, with a heater, electricity, lights, beds, bedding, rug, dresser, small table, chair, coat rack, and shelf.  The men’s and women’s bathhouses have two toilets and two showers each, plus sinks.  The heart of every camp is, of course, the kitchen.  The heated, fully equipped communal kitchen with all appliances and utensils, has storage for each cabin’s dry goods, tables and seating, a small library, a sewing machine, and a vacuum to do your own cabin.  It is one I would be happy to cook and serve a meal in.  We have added a covered picnic area onto the kitchen, near the campfire ring, for outdoor dining or smoking (not indoors please).  This summer we will be installing a garden fence for the blueberries, strawberries, cherry tree, and any veggies you might wish to grow.  You will be expected to recycle, compost, and clean up after yourself and your guests every time.  The rules won’t be unreasonable and will be presented up front.  There is a hammock, badminton, bocce ball, and horseshoes for your use.  Rental rates for the 2023 season are $550/month per cabin for one, with $100 extra for an additional person, plus 5.5% local tax.  This includes all utilities, Wi-Fi, tp, and yard maintenance.  Garbage, compost, and recycling will be removed, and dish towels washed.  Residents will have a rotating schedule for cleaning the kitchen and bathhouses.  I will ask for the first month’s rent, a $200 refundable damage deposit, and a one-time $100 cleaning fee.

If you are interested in renting a dry cabin for the 2023 summer season, May – September, please print and fill out the application, email me, or just call.    Click here for a 2023 Summer Rental Application.  I intend to be selective and will ask for references.  Hope to see you!  Donna
